24-Hour Care, also known as Live-In Care, is a reduced rate pricing system for clients who need around-the-clock care, but not moment-to-moment care. This would normally be a team of two or more caregivers to share the seven 24-hour day shifts. One caregiver at a time, they will work two to five days, sleep when the client does, eat with the client if preferred, watch TV, and etc. However, they will always be available if needed to provide personal care services and do everything that is required to be done.
In order to quality for live-in care, the CLIENT must be able to be safe alone for small increments of time. The CAREGIVER will always be available in the event of an emergency and will be accessible via voice call, phone or monitor. This service is for CLIENTS who may need help sporadically around the clock, but not need attention every minute of the day or hourly care. Since Caregiver is there for a 24 hour shift, they need a minimum of 8 hours of sleep per day, this can be in client’s room or a private room and done when client sleeps as a general rule; five of those hours should be uninterrupted. In addition, our CAREGIVER will need time to shower, wash their cloths and do a few personal things during the day without having eyes on the CLIENT, but as stated always accessible. The CAREGIVER should not be working more than 20% of a 24 hour day; the 20% rule is to avoid over-time charges. Cleaning client’s home, bathing client, cooking for client etc., is “working”, companionship activities, safety sitting, sleeping, eating with client and stand-by care is not. This will allow CAREGIVER to remain fresh and raring to go with the 8 hours of sleep, ability to shower and having some personal time to talk to their friends and family while they are away from their home, all within the boundaries of the CLIENT’S residence and allow client to have 24/7 care without paying the hourly rate when it is unnecessary. Our caregivers and clients love the arrangement.
- The CLIENT agrees to ensure that reasonable accommodation are available for the EMPLOYEE, bed to sleep in, place to shower, wash their cloths, etc.,
- The CLIENT agrees to provide the EMPLOYEE with meals or a meal allowance.
